Argentina highlights human-centric AI and prompt engineering developments

In Argentina, recent academic and social developments have highlighted the integration of artificial intelligence into society. In Mar del Plata, Gustavo Béliz, a member of the Pontifical Academy of Social Sciences of the Vatican, presented his book, ‘Atlas de la Inteligencia Artificial para el Desarrollo Humano de América Latina y el Caribe’. Béliz advocated for a ‘human-centric copilotage’ approach to prevent technology from operating on ‘autopilot,’ emphasizing the need to mitigate risks such as power concentration and inequality while ensuring AI serves human dignity and the common good.

Simultaneously, the La Plata City Council declared the book ‘Prompt Engineering: Teoría y práctica para el uso adecuado, estratégico y responsable de la inteligencia artificial generativa’ by Sebastián Carlos Chumbita to be of municipal interest. The recognition highlights the book’s contribution to technological innovation and its application within the legal field. The work is noted for being one of the first specialized studies in Argentina to address prompt engineering through legal, ethical, and technical lenses, promoting transparency and human supervision in the use of generative AI.
