Argentina holds artistic events to mark 50 years since 1976 military coup
On Saturday, July 25, 2024, two cultural programmes were held in Argentina to commemorate the 50th anniversary of the 1976 military coup. In Rosario, Católicas por el Derecho a Decidir and Casa de la Memoria organised a public "Ronda de Memorias" at the Casa de la Memoria Imprenta del Pueblo Roberto Matthews, featuring folk music, feminist songs, poetry, audiovisual projections and a discussion table focusing on the legacy of Christian base communities and women’s roles in social justice.
In Cipolletti, the Popular Library Bernardino Rivadavia opened the photographic exhibition "Imagen y Memoria, Retratos para no olvidar" by the Son Miradas collective. The event includes the short film "Faltó la Luna" about desaparecidos, live performances of prohibited songs, and guided tours of portraits linking families to their missing relatives. The exhibit will remain open until August 14.
