Argentina hospitals achieve surgical milestones

On July 17, the Hospital Justo José de Urquiza in Concepción del Uruguay performed its first chest wall reconstruction on a 67‑year‑old patient with severe bilateral rib fractures, using STRACOS clips supplied by MedXpert GmbH. The complex procedure was led by Dr. Germán Gallicet, Dr. Rafael Ariel Vales, and surgeon Dr. Rodrigo Werning, marking a first for the facility.

Meanwhile, the Hospital René Favaloro, in partnership with the Hospital Escuela de Agudos “Dr. Ramón Madariaga”, has completed 200 MOHS surgeries, the internationally recognized gold‑standard technique for skin‑cancer treatment. Dr. Oscar Prevosti and Dr. Sebastián Kramer highlighted that the public provincial hospital now offers the MOHS procedure, integrating dermatology and plastic surgery to achieve 100 % intra‑operative margin control and improved patient outcomes.
