Argentina implements AI frameworks in judicial and police sectors
Argentina is implementing new artificial intelligence frameworks within its legal and security sectors. The National Public Prosecutor's Office (Ministerio Público Fiscal de la Nación) has approved institutional guidelines via Resolution PGN N°64/2026 to regulate the use, design, and acquisition of AI tools. Approved by interim Attorney General Eduardo Casal, the framework aims to ensure ethical, legal, and reliable implementation of AI to improve judicial efficiency while maintaining human control and data protection.
Simultaneously, the Chaco Provincial Police has established the Applied Artificial Intelligence Development Division. This new unit, formalized by Chief Fernando Javier Romero, is designed to assist criminal investigations by processing large volumes of complex data, including digital evidence, financial records, and communications. The initiative seeks to modernize police procedures and strengthen responses to complex crimes through digital transformation, though officials emphasized that final investigative decisions will remain with human personnel.
