Argentina inflation projections drop to between 1.6% and 1.9% for August
Private consultancies in Argentina have significantly lowered their inflation projections for August, estimating the Consumer Price Index (CPI) will fall between 1.6% and 1.9%. This represents a notable deceleration compared to July, when inflation reached 2.1% due to winter holiday spending and increases in recreation, culture, and hospitality sectors.
Analysts attribute this downward trend primarily to cooling prices in the food and beverages category. For instance, Eco Go projects a 1.6% general index based on a 0.3% increase in food prices during the second week of August. Analytica reported a 1.7% average over the last four weeks, noting that while vegetables rose by 4.8%, fruits and meats saw much smaller increases.
EconViews provided the highest estimate at 1.9%, though they noted the possibility of the final figure being slightly lower. If these projections hold, August would mark a return to the lower price increase levels seen in June 2025.
