Argentina issues wildfire warnings amid dry conditions and wind

Authorities in Argentina are warning of extreme wildfire risks due to dry vegetation, low humidity, and strong winds. In the province of Córdoba, officials report that the lack of rainfall and seasonal winds have created high-risk conditions that could persist through March.

Firefighters in San Francisco and other areas of Córdoba have noted that most forest fires are caused by human activity. They emphasize that lighting fires in unauthorized areas is prohibited by law and carries legal penalties. Recent fire outbreaks in Embal and La Calera were reported as contained and controlled.

In Valle Fértil, emergency services are preparing for potential emergencies, including fires and falling trees, triggered by the arrival of the Zonda wind. Firefighters have placed personnel on alert and are urging the population to avoid burning pasture or waste, as wind can rapidly turn small fires into uncontrollable blazes.
