Argentina's ANSV launches WhatsApp system for citizen road‑safety reports
The National Road Safety Agency (ANSV) introduced the Sistema de Reporte Vial Ciudadano, a WhatsApp‑based platform (number 11‑2787‑0000) that lets any person submit audiovisual evidence of dangerous driving or traffic violence. Reporters must include a clear view of the vehicle’s license plate, the location, date and time of the incident, and complete a short online form. ANSV technical teams evaluate each submission and, depending on the severity and proof, may suspend or revoke the driver’s licence. The tool is intended to augment traditional roadside checks, generate data on risk patterns and support preventive campaigns, and was unveiled during the national Week of Road Safety.
The system covers a broad range of infractions, including drink‑driving, speeding, illegal convoying, unsafe overtaking, under‑age drivers, mobile‑phone use while driving, altered plates and any physical or verbal aggression on the road. While submissions are not automatically penalised, they are assessed under existing traffic regulations and can lead to administrative actions.
