Argentina launches national campaign for infant food allergy detection
The Argentine Association of Allergy and Clinical Immunology (AAAeIC) has launched a national campaign to promote the early detection of cow's milk protein allergy (APLV) in infants. In Argentina, nearly 1 in 100 children develops a food allergy, with APLV being the most frequent, accounting for one-third of cases.
Symptoms that may indicate APLV include persistent crying, frequent regurgitation, diarrhea, constipation, intense colic, eczema, wheezing, or blood in the stool. Because these symptoms can be non-specific, families often face difficulties obtaining a correct diagnosis.
To facilitate specialized evaluation, the AAAeIC is offering free consultations, both virtual and in-person, provided by allergists across the country. Families can book appointments through a dedicated website between August 31 and September 4, coinciding with APLV Awareness Week. Consultations are scheduled to take place during the week of September 7 to September 11.
