Argentina infant milk protein allergy detection campaign

The Argentine Association of Allergy and Clinical Immunology (AAAeIC) has initiated a national campaign to promote the early detection of cow’s milk protein allergy (APLV) in infants. This initiative coincides with APLV Awareness Week.

In Argentina, approximately 1 in 100 children develops a food allergy, with APLV representing a significant portion of these cases. Because symptoms such as colic, reflux, constipation, or eczema can be non-specific, families often struggle to obtain accurate diagnoses. Experts note that delayed identification can negatively impact an infant’s nutrition and growth.

To assist families, the AAAeIC is providing free virtual and in-person consultations with specialists. While medical professionals suggest using an exclusion diet to confirm the condition, they warn that such diets must be conducted under medical supervision to prevent nutritional deficiencies. Families can request appointments through the organization’s website until September 4.
