Argentina lawyer elections for National Council of the Magistracy approach
Candidates are mobilizing ahead of the upcoming elections for the lawyer constituency of Argentina’s National Council of the Magistracy (Consejo de la Magistratura de la Nación).
In La Plata, the Lista 1 Abogacía Federal, led by Fernando Levene and supported by the Colegio de la Abogacía de La Plata (CALP), held a meeting for over 500 lawyers. Levene proposed creating an observatory within the Council to monitor professional practice in the federal sphere, addressing issues such as delays and system functionality. CALP President Marina Mongiardino emphasized the goal of providing active and capable representation for colleagues at the federal level.
In Córdoba, the Unión Cívica Radical (UCR) has signaled strong political support for Alberto ‘Nacho’ Biglieri, the candidate for Lista 3 (Unidad en Defensa de la Abogacía). Political leaders, including Rodrigo de Loredo and Marcos Ferrer, gathered in Río Tercero to demonstrate territorial backing. The UCR presents this candidacy as an effort to ensure an independent judiciary and increase the presence of professionals from the interior of the country within the national judicial strategic organism.
