Argentina leads global generative AI weekly usage, Oxford report finds

A report by the Reuters Institute for the Study of Journalism at the University of Oxford reveals that Argentina has the highest weekly usage of generative artificial intelligence among the markets studied. The data shows rapid growth in the country: weekly usage rose from 21% in 2024 to 51% in 2025, reaching 68% in 2026.

In the 2026 comparison involving nine countries, Argentina's 68% usage rate exceeded Norway (57%), Australia and Denmark (51%), the United States (49%), France and Finland (48%), Japan (46%), and the United Kingdom (42%).

Despite the high adoption rate, the study notes that Argentina ranks among the countries with the lowest levels of AI literacy. This indicates a gap between the rapid integration of these tools into daily habits and the users' understanding of their technical functions, limitations, and potential risks.
