Argentina marks 50‑year coup anniversary with theatre piece and human‑rights congress

In May and June 2026, the Comedia Cordobesa presents the performance “Hacer (de) Memoria” at the Teatro Real (San Jerónimo) in Córdoba. Directed by Pablo Tolosa, the 55‑minute piece links bodily expression with the thought of Roberto Cantos, who says, “Así como la historia es lo que pasó, la memoria es lo que nos pasó,” and incorporates visual references to Carlos Alonso. The work aims to provoke questions about collective memory rather than provide answers.

On 19‑20 June 2026, the Universidad Nacional de Santiago del Estero (UNSE) will host the II Congreso de Derechos Humanos del Norte Grande Argentino. Under the slogan “A 50 años del golpe: Diálogos entre la memoria histórica y las urgencias de nuestra democracia,” the free, open‑registration conference invites researchers, activists, teachers and students to submit papers, posters and experiential reports by 24 May. The event will explore five thematic axes—education, community, communication, environment and culture—to address historical memory and contemporary democratic challenges in northern Argentina.
