Argentina mining sector launches training and financing programmes for supply‑chain firms

The Argentine Chamber of Mining Companies (CAEM) and the Argentine Industrial Union (UIA) have started a virtual four‑module training cycle on responsible business conduct for the mining value chain. Backed by the European Union, the ILO, the UN Development Programme and the Inter‑American Development Bank, the programme begins on 25 June and covers due‑diligence, decent work, gender equality and a just energy transition. It aims to equip local suppliers with the skills needed for upcoming metal and lithium projects projected to involve US$ 55 billion in investments.

In a related CAEM talks series, Banco Comafi and the development agency Fundes presented financial and managerial tools to strengthen mining suppliers. Banco Comafi offers customized financing, including leasing that can fund up to 100 % of equipment value with tax benefits, while Fundes provides a diagnostic methodology to improve efficiency, sustainability and business strategy. Both initiatives seek to boost the competitiveness, resilience and sustainability of Argentine mining suppliers as the sector expands.
