Argentina modifies Educational Voucher rules for families with unpaid school fees

The Argentine government has modified the regulations for the Educational Vouchers program to protect families with unpaid school fees. Through Resolution 5055/2026, published in the Official Gazette, the Secretariat of Education has suspended specific articles of the program's General Regulations for the 2026 school year.

Under the previous rules, families owing two monthly installments faced a suspension of the benefit until the debt was regularized, while those owing three installments faced permanent cancellation of the voucher. The new measure suspends these penalties for the duration of 2026, allowing beneficiaries to continue receiving assistance regardless of outstanding debts to private educational institutions.

The program is designed for families with children under 18 attending private schools that receive at least 75% state funding. The goal of the suspension is to ensure the continuity of students' educational trajectories during the current school cycle.
