Argentina pushes ahead with AlmaSADI energy‑storage licensing
The Argentine Secretariat of Energy announced that the national‑international AlmaSADI call for energy‑storage projects has moved to the next evaluation stage. Out of 234 proposals, the offers total 8,338 MW – almost twelve times the original target of 700 MW. Forty‑two projects are located in the province of Buenos Aires, covering towns such as 25 de Mayo, Pergamino, Bragado and Chascomús.
The technical‑administrative review by CAMMESA disqualified three offers for non‑compliance, including one for Pehuajó. The remaining projects have been deemed eligible to advance to the economic‑offers phase, where bids will be opened and evaluated. The storage installations are intended to provide rapid‑response reserves, improve voltage control and reduce the risk of blackouts, serving as a temporary solution until new high‑voltage transmission lines are built. The government highlighted strong interest from both domestic and foreign firms and stressed the scheme’s role in strengthening Argentina’s electric system reliability.
