Argentina advances municipal LED street lighting in La Banda and Olavarría

The Municipality of La Banda inaugurated a new LED street‑lighting system along Alem Street, installing 30 modern LED luminaries over 600 metres. The project, part of a city‑wide luminescent reconversion plan, replaces sodium lamps with energy‑saving LEDs, adds new support columns and rewired cabling, and aims to improve safety and reduce electricity consumption across several neighbourhoods.

In Olavarría, the municipal government launched a public tender to replace the lighting on Avenida Eva Perón with a comprehensive LED system. The plan, budgeted at roughly $260.8 million Argentine pesos, will install 33 reinforced‑glass columns, 66 high‑power LED luminaires and a 14‑metre tower with six projectors, totaling 72 LED fixtures. The new underground electrical network will eliminate overhead wires and modernise the avenue that serves both the city centre and the industrial parks.

Both projects illustrate Argentine cities’ push to modernise urban infrastructure, cut energy costs and enhance public lighting quality.
