Argentina orders recall of toxic 'Squeezy Dumpling' toy

The government of Buenos Aires Province has ordered the immediate removal of the imported toy "Squeezy Dumpling" from retail outlets. The toy was found to contain high levels of benzene, a hazardous substance that can be absorbed through inhalation or skin contact, posing a health risk to children.

Provincial officials, including Governor Axel Kicillof and subsecretary Ariel Aguilar, criticized the national government's lax import controls that allowed the product to enter the market. They warned that retailers could face fines and announced plans for inspections to enforce the recall. The move follows warnings from the Argentine Toy Industry Chamber about the toy's danger to children.

Authorities emphasized that families lack the tools to assess such risks at the point of purchase, placing the responsibility on the state to protect minors.
