Argentina physical activity survey shows time constraints hinder exercise
Data from the 2023 National Survey on Physical Activity and Sport in Argentina indicates that 55% of individuals over the age of 16 engaged in regular physical activity over the past year.
Among those who ceased exercising, the primary reason cited was a lack of time, reported by 79.4% of respondents. Other significant barriers included financial constraints (51.7%) and fatigue or loss of motivation (46.5%). Despite these challenges, 76% of those who stopped expressed an intention to return to regular exercise.
A 2025 sectoral survey of 8,503 users of gyms and clubs identified location as the most critical factor for choosing a facility (45.5%), followed by the quantity and quality of equipment (30.6%) and operating hours (23.9%).
On a regional level, a 2025 report from the World Health Organization noted that 36.6% of adults in Latin America and the Caribbean do not meet recommended physical activity levels.
