Argentina prepares 2026 winter tourism season with new ski infrastructure
The national Secretariat of Tourism and Environment launched the 2026 winter season in Buenos Aires, with Tourism Minister Daniel Scioli emphasizing strong demand, internal tourism promotion, and enhanced connectivity across the country.
In Río Negro province officials outlined a series of infrastructure projects to support the season: a new bus terminal in Bariloche, the repavement of Route 80 to Teniente Luis Candelaria Airport, a ferial point at Río Villegas, and upgrades at major ski resorts. Cerro Bayo will receive a new quad chairlift, expanded artificial snowmaking and extended operating days; Chapelco will host a ten‑person cable car that triples ascent capacity, plus parking and access improvements; Caviahue will add a new quad chairlift. Additional initiatives include a smart‑destination network and the enhancement of historic railway stations, all aimed at generating jobs and economic benefits for local communities.
