President Javier Milei’s administration is confronting a decline in public standing as the country’s new economic policies push social tensions to a breaking point. Governor Maximiliano Pullaro of Santa Fe is dealing with his own political quandary, weighing whether to ally with the libertarian party La Libertad Avanza (LLA) to prevent candidate Juan Monteverde from gaining influence in the provincial capital. PRO figure Cristian Cunha has urged such an alliance, while socialist opponents argue that Rosario voters would reject a libertarian candidate and suggest alternatives like Pablo Javkin or other local figures.

Amid the political maneuvering, Pullaro recently signed a 20‑year concession for the maintenance and rehabilitation of national route A012, a 67‑kilometre highway linking Rosario to the port of San Lorenzo. The agreement, finalized at the Casa Rosada, has attracted additional scrutiny and speculation about its political motivations as the province prepares for a forthcoming electoral redesign.
