Rosario restores Monumento a la Bandera ahead of Milei's Flag Day visit

After more than a decade of intermittent work, the Santa Fe provincial government completed the full restoration of the Monumento Nacional a la Bandera in Rosario. The project, funded with over 4 000 million Argentine pesos, covered the propileo, the Sala de las Banderas, the central mast, the Fuente de las Proas, lighting, drainage and accessibility upgrades, and revived the monument’s historic water source after 20 years.

The inauguration took place on 17 June, led by Governor Maximiliano Pullaro and Mayor Pablo Javkin, and was timed for the upcoming Día de la Bandera on 20 June. More than 8 000 fourth‑grade students from across the country participated in the traditional Promesa de Lealtad ceremony held in the newly restored space.

President Javier Milei attended the Flag Day ceremony on 20 June, accompanied by Chief of Staff Manuel Adorni, while Vice President Victoria Villarruel did not join the delegation. Milei’s appearance follows a period of reduced provincial outings due to internal political tensions. He is also scheduled to travel to Tucumán for Independence Day celebrations on 9 July and to undertake a series of international engagements in Spain, Paraguay (Mercosur summit) and the United States.
