Javier Milei’s approval climbs as inflation slips, disapproval stays above 55%

June 2026 surveys show President Javier Milei’s positive image rose from about 36 % to 40 % after a period of falling inflation, while his disapproval level hovered around 56‑58 %. The improvement coincides with macro‑economic signs that the inflation rate breached the 2 % floor for a third consecutive month, real wages recovered and the consumer‑confidence index rose by 6.4 % – its strongest monthly gain since November.

Economic activity also showed modest gains: the General Activity Index rose 0.7 % in May and eight of eleven sectors posted positive results. Private analysts lifted their 2026 growth forecast for Argentina from 2.7 % to 3 %, driven by energy, agro and mining, with manufacturing and commerce expected to follow. The Treasury refinanced a $6 billion repo line to 2028 and is preparing a further $5 billion multilateral‑backed disbursement.

Despite the economic uptick, public concern shifted toward corruption, which 48 % of respondents named the top national problem, edging out unemployment and inflation. Digital sentiment remained unfavorable, with roughly 53 % of online mentions of Milei negative for the fifth month in a row.
