Argentina prosecutors seek seizure of $5 million from Florencia Kirchner
Argentine prosecutors are seeking to seize more than $5 million held by Florencia Kirchner, daughter of former President Cristina Fernández de Kirchner. Banco Galicia has confirmed to the judiciary that these funds, which have been frozen for a decade, are available for seizure.
The assets include $4,664,000 found in a safety deposit box, along with approximately $1,032,144 and 53,280 pesos held in two savings accounts. These funds were originally frozen in 2016 by Judge Julián Ercolini during the Hotesur-Los Sauces investigation into alleged money laundering. While Florencia Kirchner was previously acquitted in that specific case, the funds remained under judicial suspicion.
The seizure is now being pursued by the Federal Oral Court 2 (TOF 2) as part of the Vialidad case. This effort aims to recover funds to cover a fiscal debt that, adjusted for inflation, has risen to approximately 684.99 billion pesos. The second block of assets targeted for seizure includes the Kirchner family's funds, 13 properties belonging to the family, and 128 real estate assets linked to businessman Lázaro Báez.
