Argentina protests intensify over Milei's privatization and housing policies

Social organisations staged a protest march in La Plata, blocking streets around the central train station and the provincial Ministry of Economy. The demonstration, which began mid‑morning, prompted traffic disruptions on avenues 7 and 46 and prompted authorities to advise drivers to seek alternative routes.

In Buenos Aires Province, the ATE union marched to Chapadmalal to oppose the national government's plan to privatise the tourist complex and lay off 58 workers. Union secretary Claudio Arévalo said, “We are part of the struggle of workers defending this heritage, its jobs and the regional economy.” A separate “Marcha de las Escobas” rally in the capital demanded an end to evictions and highlighted a housing emergency exacerbated by Milei's proposed property‑rights law and rising living costs.

All three actions reflect growing opposition to President Javier Milei’s economic reforms, which opponents argue threaten jobs, public assets and affordable housing.
