Argentina provinces approve major high‑voltage power line projects

The Provincial Energy Regulator (EPRE) in Entre Ríos has set a public hearing for August 5, 2026 to consider a Certificate of Convenience and Necessity for ENERSA’s 132 kV high‑tension line linking the Chajarí and Federación transformer stations. The line is intended to replace an aging 33 kV network, improve capacity and address peak‑demand issues within the province.

In Neuquén, the Provincial Energy Agency (EPEN) announced a plan to invest more than US$500 million over the next 10‑15 years in high‑voltage infrastructure supporting the Vaca Muerta oil‑and‑gas basin and growing tourism. The plan includes a new 500 kV interconnection to the national grid, 132 kV line construction over roughly 250 km, and installation of additional transformer stations. A recent US$25 million spend restored high‑capacity transformers at key nodes, and further works will expand the transmission system by about 40 percent.
