Argentina provinces invest in judicial and educational technology

Argentine provinces Río Negro and Neuquén are implementing significant technological upgrades in their public sectors.

In Río Negro, the Judiciary has invested over one million dollars to strengthen its digital infrastructure. The investment includes the distribution of more than 450 notebooks and various hardware components, such as processors, RAM, and SSDs, to various regional offices including Viedma, General Roca, Bariloche, and Cipolletti. The initiative aims to support the province's fully digitized case files and enhance remote capabilities for videoconferenced hearings.

In Neuquén, the government has launched 'Plan Pehuén' to reduce the digital divide in the education system. The program aims to incorporate 40,000 educational netbooks, 7,000 tablets, 450 interactive screens, and other technological tools. The first 19,000 computers have already been received. This initiative is funded jointly by the province and YPF, with procurement managed through a tripartite agreement with UNOPS to ensure international standards of transparency.
