Latin American health ministries roll out intensified free measles and rubella vaccination campaigns

Mexico’s Jalisco health secretariat urges residents to complete the free measles vaccine schedule available in all state health centers, emphasizing safety and continuous monitoring. In Colombia, the Guaviare health department has added an extra measles‑rubella dose for infants aged six to eleven months and is vaccinating health, transport and tourism workers to guard against imported cases linked to recent international travel. The nearby municipality of Dosquebradas likewise opened twelve vaccination points, offering the same zero‑dose for infants and stressing that no local cases have been reported.

In Argentina, the province of Córdoba organized a provincial vaccination day on 25 July, providing the full national calendar of vaccines, dengue and COVID‑19 shots, and the monoclonal antibody Nirsevimab to protect infants from severe respiratory syncytial virus disease. The city of Morón held a free community vaccination session with flu and routine vaccines. All campaigns are free, aim to close gaps in immunization schedules, and target children, adolescents, pregnant women and vulnerable adults to prevent resurgence of vaccine‑preventable diseases.
