Lima International Book Fair 2026 draws over 400,000 visitors

The 30th edition of the Lima International Book Fair (FIL Lima 2026) was held at the Jockey Exhibition Center in Surco for 16 days, attracting more than 400,000 visitors, generating sales of over S/18 million and hosting more than 600 cultural activities. The fair featured 65 national and international authors, a guest‑country honor delegation from Ecuador, and tributes to writers such as Alfredo Bryce Echenique and Blanca Varela. Organisers aim to place the event among the three leading book fairs in Latin America.

In Buenos Aires, the 15th Feria de Editores (FED) opened on 6 August with free entry and participation from over 330 independent publishers across Argentina, Brazil, Chile, Colombia, Mexico, Peru, Uruguay and Spain. The event awarded the 2026 Labor Librera prize to the Córdoba bookstore Volcán Azul (4 million pesos) and presented a poster design prize. Organisers highlighted concerns over possible changes to the national book‑law.

Montevideo hosted the inaugural Feria Independiente de Editores y Libreros (FIEL) on 18‑19 September, gathering independent publishers and booksellers from across Uruguay.

In Tres Arroyos, the Colegio Holandés staged the 11th “Érase una vez…” children’s and youth book fair from 12‑14 August, with writers Jorge Consiglio and Istvansch among the participants and a ticket price of 2,000 pesos.

Other regional fairs include the UNNE IV Book Fair in Resistencia (14‑21 August), the Neuquén International Book Fair scheduled for 11‑20 September with more than 600 submissions and an expected 250,000 visitors, and the “El mundo en Letras” fair in Cutral Co featuring historian Felipe Pigna.
