Argentina wins men's and women's rugby titles at Sudamericano 7s

Argentina secured a double victory at the 2026 Sudamericano de Seven held at the Carlos Paz Rugby Club in Villa Carlos Paz. Both the men’s and women’s national teams finished the tournament undefeated.

The men’s team, Los Pumas 7s, claimed their 12th continental title by defeating Chile 24-5 in the final. Led by captain Santiago Mare and coach Santiago Gómez Cora, the team maintained a dominant performance throughout the tournament, including victories over Paraguay, Colombia, and Uruguay.

The women’s team, Las Yaguaretés, achieved their fourth consecutive South American championship by defeating Brazil 19-10 in the final. Under the direction of Nahuel García, the squad remained undefeated throughout the competition, having previously secured wins against the Dominican Republic, Guatemala, Paraguay, and Uruguay.

The tournament served as a critical pathway for regional teams, offering qualification opportunities for the World Rugby Sevens Challenger series, the 2027 Pan American Games in Lima, and regional qualifiers for the Los Angeles 2028 Olympic Games.
