Argentina negotiates Aeropuertos Argentina 2000 concession extension

The Argentine government is negotiating the renegotiation of the Aeropuertos Argentina 2000 (AA2000) concession, which manages 35 terminals across the country. The administration of Javier Milei seeks to reach an agreement before the end of the year to unlock over $600 million in planned infrastructure investments for major airports such as Ezeiza, Aeroparque, Córdoba, and El Plumerillo in Mendoza.

Key points of contention include the length of the contract extension, with AA2000 seeking to extend operations until 2056 while the government demands annual audits of goal fulfillment. There is also a dispute regarding the company's 16.45% profitability rate, which the government describes as "exorbitant," and the execution of the $600 million modernization plan. AA2000 maintains that long-term contract security is essential to secure international financing.

In separate fiscal news, the National Treasury reported a liquidity surplus of approximately $4 trillion (equivalent to $2.6 billion) following a debt tender on July 29, where $12.21 trillion was awarded against $8 trillion in maturities. The exact destination of these surplus funds remains under discussion among officials.
