Argentina Senate faces calls for hearings on automated company law

A group of approximately thirty organizations, including socio-environmental assemblies, human rights associations, and indigenous communities, has requested the Argentine Senate to hold public hearings regarding a proposed reform to the General Companies Law. The reform, promoted by the government of Javier Milei, seeks to authorize the creation of automated companies and Decentralized Autonomous Organizations (DAOs).

Specialists and civil society groups have raised concerns regarding the potential for these entities to operate without accountability. While acknowledging the goal of attracting technological innovation and investment, advocates argue that the magnitude of the issue requires a deep, multidisciplinary parliamentary debate involving experts in corporate law, criminal law, technology, and sociology before the bill is passed.
