Argentina sentences man to 7.5 years for threatening Ángel Di María's family
A court in Rosario has sentenced 45-year-old Sergio Di Vanni to seven and a half years in prison for making death threats against Argentine footballer Ángel Di María and his family. The threats occurred in 2024 when Di María was considering a return to his boyhood club, Rosario Central.
Di María previously detailed the extreme nature of the intimidation, noting that perpetrators attacked a real estate agency owned by his sister. The attackers left a pig's head with a bullet embedded in its forehead outside the building, accompanied by a note threatening the life of Di María's daughter, Pia, should he return to the club. The family also faced additional terror through shootings near Di María's property. Despite these incidents, the footballer eventually returned to Rosario Central in 2025.
