Argentina Sets Staggered Winter School Break and Extended June Holidays for 2026

The Federal Education Council released Argentina's 2026 winter school vacation schedule, dividing the break into three blocks to spread tourist traffic. The first block runs from 6 to 17 July in Santa Fe, San Luis, San Juan, Mendoza, Entre Ríos and Córdoba, with classes resuming on 20 July. The second block covers 13 to 26 July for fourteen provinces – Catamarca, Chubut, Corrientes, Formosa, Jujuy, La Pampa, La Ríoja, Misiones, Neuquén, Río Negro, Salta, Santa Cruz, Tierra del Fuego and Tucumán – and coincides with the national Independence Day holiday on 9 July. The final block spans 20 to 31 July for the densely populated Buenos Aires City, Buenos Aires Province and Santiago del Estero, with schools reopening on 3 August.

In June 2026, several municipalities in Buenos Aires Province announced an extra-long four‑day weekend. Local holidays on Tuesday 16 June in Mar Chiquita, General Madariaga, Pila, Vedia (Leandro N. Alem) and Loma Verde (General Paz) align with the national holiday moved to Monday 15 June, creating a continuous break from Saturday to Tuesday. National holidays also include Tuesday 17 June (General Güemes) and Saturday 20 June (General Belgrano/Flag Day). The combined schedule is expected to boost regional tourism and commercial activity.
