Argentina to auction Junín Procrear housing site as program is liquidated

The Argentine national government, through the Ministry of Economy and the Secretariat of Public Works, approved a public auction of the land in Junín where 149 homes were being built under the Procrear housing program. The project had been stalled for nearly three years, with about half of the units completed. The parcel, measuring 21,347.46 m², will be sold on the SUBAST.AR platform with a base price of roughly 7.06 million USD.

The auction is part of a broader liquidation of the Procrear trust fund, which also includes a 17,714 m² site in Mercedes with 141 unfinished homes. More than 1,850 families had registered for the Junín units before the program was dissolved. Local housing union leader Eduardo Diotti said he was unaware of the decision and noted that the construction company had already left the site. The Banco Hipotecario now holds the program, leaving the future of the unfinished homes uncertain. The sale marks the end of the Procrear initiative in the region.
