Argentina transfers Chapadmalal complex portion to Mar del Plata University
The Argentine government has formalized the transfer of a portion of the Chapadmalal complex to the National University of Mar del Plata (UNMdP). The decision, published in the Official Gazette via a resolution from the Agency for the Administration of State Assets (AABE), covers 137,480.72 square meters located along provincial route 11.
The transfer aims to facilitate the creation of student residences and new spaces dedicated to academic, scientific, cultural, and sporting activities. This move is part of a broader reorganization of the historic site, which includes a public tender to concession six hotels for 30 years to attract investment and generate employment. Additionally, the municipality has been granted use of two buildings for a primary healthcare center.
Local officials and national Senator Maximiliano Abad have welcomed the measure, noting that it provides an opportunity to revitalize the site, which had previously suffered from neglect, while expanding the university's infrastructure for research and higher education.
