Restructuring of the Chapadmalal complex

Overview

The Argentine government has initiated a reorganization of the Chapadmalal Tourist Unit through the Agency for the Administration of State Assets (AABE). This process involves both the transfer of land for educational purposes and the commercial exploitation of existing hotel structures.

As part of the plan, a portion of the complex totaling 137,480.72 square meters has been transferred to the National University of Mar del Plata (UNMdP). This area is intended for the creation of the ‘Dr. René Gerónimo Favaloro Campus’, which will feature student residences, classrooms, laboratories, and sporting facilities. Additionally, the Municipality of General Pueyrredón has been granted use of two buildings to establish a primary healthcare center.

To attract investment and generate employment, the AABE has launched a public tender for 30-year concessions for the commercial operation of six hotels within the complex. Because the buildings are designated National Historic Monuments, all restoration and maintenance work must comply with environmental and urban regulations under the supervision of the National Commission of Monuments. Bids for these concessions are scheduled to open on November 27.
