Argentina transport: Bus labor dispute settled and train service remains suspended

In Argentina, legal and infrastructure developments are affecting regional transport services. The Supreme Court of Justice has resolved a jurisdictional dispute regarding the urban bus concession in Paraná. Following a request by the Unión Tranviarios Automotor (UTA), a court order required San José SA to absorb 237 workers from the former operators Ersa Urbano SA and Transporte Mariano Moreno. The Supreme Court's ruling settles the debate over whether the case should be handled by labor courts in Buenos Aires or Paraná.

Separately, the state-owned railway operator Sofse has informed the Rafaela City Council that there is currently no scheduled date for the resumption of the Retiro–Tucumán passenger train service. The service has been suspended since September 2025, following a derailment in Santiago del Estero between the Ardiles and Gramilla stations. While the infrastructure administrator, Nuevo Central Argentino (NCA), is reportedly working on necessary repairs, no timeline for full operational status has been established.
