Argentina unions demand decent work and reject wage cap

The Central de Trabajadores de la Argentina (CTA) met with leaders of the recovered cooperatives federation (FECUTA) in Buenos Aires, emphasizing the need for a unified workers' front against President Javier Milei’s policies and calling for a popular alternative that can govern the country out of crisis.

Gerardo Martínez, secretary‑general of UOCRA and elected vice‑president of the 114th International Labour Conference in Geneva, used the ILO platform to condemn the government’s “salary ceiling” and to demand the protection of collective bargaining. He warned that the current fiscal and monetary adjustments are harming wages, pensions and public services, and urged a social dialogue to build a new social contract that incorporates technological change without excluding workers.
