Argentina unions demand street protests against Milei reforms

At an International Transport Workers Federation (ITF) meeting in Buenos Aires, 45 union leaders from 25 countries gathered to discuss the situation of transport workers in Argentina.

Union officials, including Pablo Moyano of the Argentine truck‑drivers’ union and Julio Sosa, president of the ITF’s Global Railway Section, sharply criticised President Javier Milei’s labour reforms, the million‑dollar fine imposed on their railway union and policies on wages, employment and railway investment, warning that “the situation of the railway system is deteriorating progressively”.

Moyano told delegates that “the only tool left is mobilization and the defence of our rights” and called for “street fights against Milei”. ITF General Secretary Stephen Cotton added that “if Milei thinks he can break unions, he is totally wrong”.
