The Ministry of Economy and the General Directorate of Customs in Argentina have updated the vehicle release regime for the Special Customs Area of Tierra del Fuego. The amendment expands the regime to include motorcycles, quadricycles, triciclos, trucks, trailers, road and agricultural machinery, aligning the rules with the categories defined in the National Traffic Law and replacing a decree that had remained unchanged since 1994. Lawmakers Miguel Rodríguez and Santiago Pauli highlighted that the change removes outdated restrictions and provides greater legal certainty for users in the region.

At the same time, the national government, through the Ministry of Justice, has launched a series of reforms to modernize the vehicle registration system across all provincial registries. The reforms introduce digital processing of procedures, eliminate unnecessary requirements, enable data sharing between agencies, and aim to cut administrative times and costs for individuals and dealers. The measures are intended to make vehicle ownership transfers faster, more transparent and supportive of the competitiveness of small and medium‑sized enterprises.
