Weather alerts issued for Patagonia and Baja California
Severe weather warnings have been issued for several regions in Argentina and Mexico.
In Argentina, the Servicio Meteorológico Nacional (SMN) has issued yellow alerts for heavy rainfall across Chubut and Río Negro. In Chubut, areas including Comodoro Rivadavia, Rada Tilly, and Trelew face unstable conditions with potential for intense rain and wind gusts. In Río Negro, the cordillera region, including Bariloche and Villa La Angostura, is expected to experience persistent rainfall and wind gusts exceeding 70 km/h. Some high-altitude areas may also see snow.
In Mexico, the State Civil Protection Coordination (CEPC) warned of incoming rains in Baja California, including Tijuana, Ensenada, and Mexicali. These conditions, driven by the Mexican monsoon and the proximity of Hurricane Polo, are expected to intensify by Monday, potentially bringing thunderstorms, hail, and coastal winds of 50 to 70 km/h.
