Argentina's aviation system sets historic passenger and flight operation records in early 2026

The Argentine civil aviation system recorded its highest passenger traffic and flight movements ever between January and April 2026. Total passengers reached 17,897,992, a 5 % increase over the same period in 2025, with April alone handling 3,906,057 travelers, surpassing the previous monthly record by 1 %. Flight operations rose to 138,369 movements, beating the prior first‑quarter record by 2 %.

Domestic flights accounted for 2,581,166 passengers in April, while international travel saw 1,324,891 passengers, a 3 % rise over the April 2018 record. The growth was driven by expanded routes and new carriers: Emirates began cargo services, Flybondi opened the Córdoba‑Jujuy line, Aerolíneas Argentinas reinstated Salta‑Rosario, Wingo added Medellín‑Panamá‑Aeroparque, Sky Airline launched Santiago‑Aeroparque‑Salvador, and LATAM Brasil resumed Aeroparque‑Rio de Janeiro. AL Israel Airlines announced a nonstop Buenos Aires‑Tel Aviv flight for November 2026.

At the same time, Aerolíneas Argentinas introduced stricter conditions on its Promo fare class on 23 April, prohibiting date or time changes and causing the loss of subsequent segments if one leg is missed.
