Argentina's Chamber President Martín Menem Defends Against Allegations in Libertad Avanza Rift

Martín Menem, president of Argentina's Chamber of Deputies, publicly rebutted claims linking him to the anonymous X account @PeriodistaRufus that had published criticism of the ruling coalition. He warned allies not to underestimate President Javier Milei, stating “No subestimen al Presidente,” and said he had already spoken with Milei to clear the matter.

The controversy flared after libertarian influencer Daniel Parisini, known as “El Gordo Dan,” circulated a video suggesting Menem managed the account, a theory also promoted by Santiago Caputo’s circle. Menem dismissed the accusations as the work of “some petty individual,” emphasizing his focus on delivering legislative results and noting that the government continued to pass its agenda despite the internal noise.

He called for the dispute to be resolved “in the locker room,” not in public, and confirmed he will attend the upcoming cabinet meeting and the political table gathering where he will meet Caputo again, aiming to keep the coalition’s internal tensions contained.
