Argentina's digital finance surge: NBCH online loans and YPF's embedded services
The Nuevo Banco del Chaco (NBCH) has expanded its digital offering with the NBCH24 app, allowing customers to apply for personal loans entirely online. Loans range from an immediate credit line of up to ARS 15 million to professional and commercial lines of up to ARS 30 million, all with fixed rates, 24‑month terms and instant crediting via facial‑biometry verification.
In parallel, Argentine oil firm YPF, in partnership with Banco Santander, has introduced embedded financial services within its mobile app, which already serves over three million users. The app now offers a high‑yield deposit account paying up to 19% annual interest, a prepaid Mastercard, and the ability for users to purchase YPF shares directly. Supermarket chains Carrefour and Cencosud have also launched their own financing products, intensifying competition for traditional banks and fintechs. Analysts note that while the expansion broadens credit access, delinquency among non‑bank lenders rose to 32.2% in May, highlighting emerging risks in the sector.
