Argentina's Federal Fisheries Council extends fleet relief until 2027

The Federal Fisheries Council (CFP) has extended administrative relief for the fresh fish fleet in Argentina until March 31, 2027. Through Resolution CFP No. 14/2026, the council has prolonged exceptional treatment regarding the Single Extraction Right (DUE) and the Transfer Right of Individual Transferable Catch Quotas (CITC) for common hake.

The measure aims to improve competitiveness and productivity for the fleet by addressing ongoing economic and operational challenges. Under the extended benefits, vessels authorized exclusively as fresh fishers maintain the suspension of base DUE amounts for common hake and coastal varied species. Additionally, captures intended for land-based processing continue to receive a 70% reduction in the base DUE value, meaning permit holders pay only 30% of the standard fee. Other species, such as squid and hake, retain a 50% discount.
