Argentine fisheries management and fleet support
Overview
Argentina is implementing measures to support and regulate its fishing industry. In late September 2026, the Federal Fisheries Council extended administrative relief for the fresh fish fleet until March 31, 2027. This extension, via Resolution CFP No. 14/2026, maintains reduced fees for Single Extraction Rights (DUE) and Transfer Rights of Individual Transferable Catch Quotas (CITC) for species such as common hake, squid, and coastal varied species to bolster competitiveness.
Following this, the Ministry of Production and Environment, working with the Sustainable Fisheries Development Center (CeDePesca), focused on strengthening the provincial Onboard Observers Program. This initiative aims to improve the black hake fishery by standardizing sampling protocols and optimizing databases. The program includes training for observers and fisheries engineering students to enhance data systematization and regional sustainability.
