Argentina's former President Cristina Fernández de Kirchner remains under house‑arrest restrictions

Argentina's Federal Court of Cassation rejected an extraordinary appeal filed by the defence of former President Cristina Fernández de Kirchner that sought a review by the Supreme Court of the conditions of her house arrest. The appeal asked for removal of the electronic ankle bracelet, a broader visit regime and the use of a terrace in her San José residence. The court declared the request inadmissible, noting it did not meet the legal requirements and that no irreparable harm had been shown.

The ruling leaves all current restrictions in place, including the ankle bracelet, limited visitation and housing constraints imposed after her June conviction in the Vialidad case, which sentenced her to six years in prison and permanent disqualification from public office. Her lawyers may still file a complaint with the Supreme Court.
