Argentina's Formosa and Tierra del Fuego restart school meals

Formosa Province resumed classroom activities on Monday, July 27, after the winter break. Subsecretary of Education Luis Ramírez Méndez said the second stage of the year began normally and highlighted that Formosa placed among the top four provinces in the national Pruebas Aprender 2025 assessments for language and mathematics. The provincial government continued the Servicio Social Nutricional, providing meals to students through plated servings and viandas, financed locally after federal funding was withdrawn. Governor Gildo Insfrán affirmed the policy would not be interrupted.

In Tierra del Fuego, the provincial Ministry of Education announced that the distribution of viandas to school‑feeding programmes would also restart on Monday, July 27. Families can collect the parcels between 12:00 and 13:00 at designated schools in Ushuaia, Río Grande and Tolhuin, while remote communities in Puerto Almanza and Lago Escondido will receive food modules coordinated directly with families. The measure aims to maintain nutritional assistance for students while in‑person classes remain suspended during the extended winter recess.
