Argentina's Karina Milei Takes Lead of Ruling Party's Political Table

Secretary‑General of the Presidency Karina Milei assumed leadership of the ruling party’s political coordination table after the departure of Manuel Adorni. She convened a key meeting at the Casa Rosada for the coming Tuesday, marking the first session under the new structure.

The revamped mesa includes President of the Chamber of Deputies Martín Menem, new chief of staff Diego Santilli, vice‑chief Ignacio Devitt, “armador” Lule Menem, Senate bloc leader Patricia Bullrich, presidential adviser Santiago Caputo, Economy Minister Luis Caputo and newly added communications secretary Fabián Fernández.

The agenda focuses on three priority reforms that lack sufficient congressional majorities: a suspension of the open primary system (PASO) paired with the introduction of collectora lists under the single‑ballot (Boleta Única) mechanism, the “Zona Fría” regime, and a revision of the Central Bank’s charter. Simultaneously, the government is relaunching labor and tax reforms, with Santilli leading negotiations with governors over the impact of an income‑tax cut on provincial revenue sharing (coparticipación).

Opposition radicals hold pivotal seats in the Senate, and the lack of a definitive text on the collectora system adds uncertainty. The Milei administration hopes the new coordination structure will secure the necessary agreements to push the reforms through before the 2027 electoral calendar.
