Argentina signs contract for new Colón wastewater treatment plant

The provincial government of Entre Ríos signed a contract to design and construct a new wastewater treatment plant for the city of Colón. The project, valued at 19.268 billion Argentine pesos, will be executed by a joint venture of GINSA SA and José Eleuterio Pitón SA under the provincial execution unit (UEP). It forms part of the Integrated Sanitation Program for the Uruguay River basin and includes a new pumping station, treatment facilities and a final discharge line into the river. Officials highlighted the plant’s importance for improving water quality, protecting the river ecosystem and enhancing public health for local residents.

The agreement was witnessed by the provincial governor’s chief of staff, the planning and infrastructure minister, and the UEP coordinator, who underscored the project’s role in meeting environmental commitments and supporting regional development.
